The Utility Clerk position at Cosentino's Price Chopper is designed to enhance the shopping experience for customers by providing efficient and friendly service. The primary responsibility of this role is to assist customers with their purchases by sacking groceries and supporting general store operations. This position requires a commitment to customer service excellence, ensuring that all interactions are courteous and helpful. The Utility Clerk will be expected to adhere to the Cosentino's Customer Service Standards and maintain a clean and safe environment for both customers and employees. In addition to sacking groceries, the Utility Clerk will assist customers in locating items within the store, deliver groceries to their vehicles upon request, and conduct price checks for cashiers. The role also involves monitoring the cleanliness of the sales floor, cashier stands, and restrooms, ensuring that these areas are tidy and safe. The Utility Clerk must be knowledgeable about store items, procedures, and policies to accurately answer customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally. Compliance with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures is essential, as is the ability to operate and maintain store equipment safely. Physical demands of the job include pushing and pulling grocery items and carts, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 30 lbs. The Utility Clerk may also be required to work in cooler and freezer conditions. This position reports directly to the Office Manager and is classified as non-exempt, meaning it is eligible for overtime pay. The Utility Clerk is expected to meet or exceed productivity standards to achieve desired results for both the team and individual performance.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers by sacking purchases and providing general store support.
• Utilize proper bagging techniques to minimize product damage and maximize efficiency.
• Implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards in all interactions.
• Deliver groceries to customers' vehicles when requested.
• Assist customers in locating items within the store.
• Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and ensure they are clean and safe for use.
• Conduct price checks for cashiers as needed.
• Monitor the sales floor, cashier stands, and restrooms for cleanliness and safety.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when necessary.
• Comply with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
• Operate, clean, and maintain all equipment safely and competently.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards for team and individual results.

Requirements

• Completion of ongoing training and development as outlined in the Cosentino's Learning Plan.
• Basic math and reading skills required for the position.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive customer interactions.
• Ability to comply with government regulations regarding alcohol and tobacco sales.
