About the position

The Utility Construction Worker position involves performing various activities related to the construction and maintenance of water and wastewater systems under close supervision. The role is critical in ensuring safe and efficient operations on military installations, contributing to the delivery of essential services to military personnel and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Perform activities related to water and wastewater system utility construction under close supervision.
  • Observe and comply with all Federal, State, and Company safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform physical construction tasks including excavating trenches, pipe laying, backfilling excavations, and compacting soil.
  • Ensure safe working conditions, including trench safety and bracing.
  • Construct and maintain erosion control devices as required.
  • Load, unload, identify, and distribute utility materials according to project plans and specifications.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery and materials.
  • May operate machinery as directed for skilled and semi-skilled duties in water and wastewater construction.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of prior water and wastewater system construction experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License issued by the state of employment.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Working knowledge of general hand tools and power tools preferred.
  • Must take and pass Federal OSHA and/or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with operating machinery in construction settings.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in construction.
