About the position

The Control Room Operator is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operations of the power plant facility, ensuring compliance with operational standards and regulations. This role involves monitoring various systems and equipment, conducting inspections, and coordinating maintenance activities to maintain optimal performance of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and oversee the safe and efficient routine operations of the power plant facility and all related systems and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with operational procedures and sound engineering practices.
  • Monitor, inspect, start-up, and shutdown plant equipment, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, including planned and unplanned outages, and ensure contractor-related activities are managed effectively.
  • Conduct routine operational activities, inspections, and monitor water chemistry and operational parameters.
  • Provide input on operational concerns and needs to various departments within the organization.
  • Review operational data, log-sheets, and water testing analyses, taking appropriate actions as needed.
  • Assist in the training and development of new Shift Operations Technicians and existing staff.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, promoting health and safety practices.
  • Support compliance reporting and data collection for regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic math, verbal, and writing communication skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills in power plant operations.
  • Experience with equipment and systems of a combined cycle power plant, including turbines, generators, and compressors.
  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including 12-hour shifts, and be on call for emergencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in wastewater treatment operations.
  • Familiarity with HMI control systems and operational data analysis.
