About the position
The Utility Crew Lead position at Roger Williams University is responsible for overseeing the utility crew while maintaining cleanliness and organization in dining services. This role involves direct supervision, ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards, and assisting in the setup for special events. The position requires effective communication and teamwork, as well as the ability to work independently when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all work areas, dishes, floors, and utensils.
- Supervise the utility crew while acting as a working lead.
- Interact professionally with employees, customers, and suppliers.
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Work effectively as a team leader on all assignments.
- Collect, sort, and wash dishes; steam clean or hose out garbage cans; sweep and mop floors.
- Comply with all sanitation, ServSafe, and safety requirements.
- Assist in back dock organization and proper trash and waste receptacle treatment.
- Segregate and remove trash and garbage, placing it in designated containers.
- Assist with the setup of special events or additional kitchen spaces.
- Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to use a timekeeping system to properly record time worked for payroll processing.
- Ability to follow instructions from multiple managers, chefs, and supervisors.
- Ability to work in a group/team and function efficiently.
- Possess the ability to meet unit-specific uniform standards for this position.
- Utilize all Personal Protective Equipment per Dining's guidelines.
- Wear a cut-resistance glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument.
- Ability to follow all Dining health and safety standards and requirements.
