About the position

The position involves working under the direction of a Superintendent to perform welding and maintenance tasks at a crushing plant. The role requires proficiency in welding, the ability to operate heavy equipment, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in all operations.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently use welding tools to cut, lay out, fit, and weld metal parts for equipment fabrication or repair.
• Receive daily tasks from the supervisor for specific projects or tasks of the day.
• Repair equipment and perform plant maintenance using welding tools such as grinders and cutting torches.
• Fabricate necessary parts using welding machines or oxy-acetylene torches.
• Lift varying weights occasionally, up to 100 lbs.
• Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as required.
• Follow directions from the Foreman regarding daily tasks and expectations.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance of welding equipment and supplies.
• Conduct daily pre-and-post inspections of the Weld Shop with appropriate documentation.
• Assemble, set up, adjust, maintain, and repair all types of crushing, conveying, screening, and washing equipment.
• Change bearings, conveyor idlers, screens, headpulleys, tailpulleys, install and splice conveyor belts, and make other necessary repairs.
• Use various tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, saws, and cutting torches to perform tasks.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude towards co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
• Ensure reliable attendance essential to performance in this role.

Requirements

• Proficiency in using welding tools and cutting with an acetylene torch.
• Mechanical aptitude to make repairs on a rock crushing plant.
• Ability to make timely decisions and effectively present information to supervisors and colleagues.
