About the position
The Utility Laborer position at Cash Construction involves installing and repairing underground utilities such as water and sanitary sewer systems. The role requires physical labor in various weather conditions and adherence to safety protocols while working in trenches and excavation sites.
Responsibilities
- Installs, repairs, and lays pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
- Signals equipment operators to ensure safe and proper excavation.
- Coordinates all activities in the excavation area.
- Utilizes tools and equipment necessary for the job.
- Connects pipe pieces and seals joints using cement or glue.
- Cuts pipes to required lengths.
- Uses a variety of power and hand tools.
- Grades and levels trench bases.
- Taps and drills holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
- Installs and uses instruments such as lasers, grade rods, and transit levels.
- Cleans tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Follows the company's safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Six months of work experience in construction or a related field.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working at heights, and in confined spaces.
