Utility Locate Technician $24-$30/hr Forney, Texas

About the position

ELM Utility Services is seeking a Utility Locate Technician to work independently in the Forney, Texas area. This role involves using state-of-the-art technology to accurately locate and mark underground utilities, ensuring the safety and reliability of essential services such as gas, electric, and communications. Technicians will operate from a company-provided vehicle, serving as their mobile office, and will receive comprehensive training to perform their duties effectively.

Responsibilities

• Work independently outdoors utilizing a company-provided vehicle as a mobile office to complete daily locate requests.
• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities, including electric and gas lines, using marking paint, flags, and whiskers.
• Complete all necessary digital documentation and paperwork related to locate requests.
• Receive daily route and locate requests via a handheld smartphone, starting and ending the day from home.
• Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner as directed.
• Work periodic overtime and participate in weekend on-call rotation as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license in good standing
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in damage prevention or utility locating is preferred.
