Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled mechanical maintenance and repair duties for water systems and facilities.
  • Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, installations, lubrications, and repairs of mechanical equipment and parts.
  • Maintain and repair equipment, parts, and tools used for mechanical responsibilities.
  • Perform service calls to maintain and repair mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain records of calls and maintenance/repair work performed.
  • Report unsafe conditions and equipment.
  • Maintain records on vehicle maintenance and mileage.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certification required.
  • One year of experience as a Houston Water Operations Technician Trainee or 18 months of experience in building or mechanical maintenance required.
  • One year of directly related college or vocational education may substitute for up to one year of work experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver License required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 9 months of education or training beyond the high school level preferred.
  • Preference for eligible veteran applicants with necessary qualifications.
