About the position

The Utility Operational Technology Application Developer and Support Professional at Entergy is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of real-time applications used in Power Generation and System Planning. This hybrid role requires a blend of technical expertise and operational support, ensuring that applications are available and functioning as per service level agreements. The position involves troubleshooting, debugging, and collaborating with software vendors to enhance application performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain business relationships, establishing Subject Matter Expertise in their area of responsibility.
  • Provide operations support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available, including non-business hours on-call support.
  • Maintain real-time systems application availability, ensuring applications are active and operating as defined in service level agreements.
  • Troubleshoot and debug custom and vendor applications.
  • Support the design, development, and testing of real-time systems applications and enhancements.
  • Interface with software vendors for discussions, consultations, problem-solving, and best upgrade practices on third-party application systems.
  • Participate in team 24-hour on-call rotation.
  • Understand power system operations business needs and recommend and design applications that meet customer business needs.
  • Perform additional duties as required based on the needs of the business and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, Computer Science, or related technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • For IT Specialist, Sr: 6+ years of relevant technology delivery with Subject Matter Expertise for Operational technology (OT).
  • For IT Consultant: 8+ years of relevant technology delivery with Subject Matter Expertise for Operational technology (OT).
  • Experience providing Operational on-call support to customers in difficult situations.
  • Experience in software design lifecycle with emphasis on development, support, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with the operational areas of the company (Nuclear, Power Generation, Power Delivery, System Planning).
  • Strong skills in interfacing with management and communicating technical issues to non-technical senior managers.
  • Experience with control systems security, security architecture, network security engineering, or secure network development experience with electric power utilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with security controls testing, security audits, and security assessments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Windows and/or Unix Operating Systems and correct issues.
  • Ability to perform critical analysis of issues with team members to find reasonable solutions.
