About the position

The Utility Plant Operator 2 at Clarks Summit State Hospital is responsible for leading the operation of a central steam generating plant. This role involves operating, maintaining, and repairing fuel-powered boilers and auxiliary equipment to ensure safe and efficient heating and hot water supply for the facility. The position requires attention to detail, mechanical skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain fuel-powered boilers and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform operational repairs on boilers and related systems.
• Read gauges and record operational information accurately.
• Provide safe and efficient heating and hot water to the facility.
• Operate general purpose vehicles as needed.
• Assist with seasonal outside maintenance tasks.
• Stay current with all mandated trainings.

Requirements

• One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 or equivalent experience in utility plant systems.
• Six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of utility plant systems and related equipment.
• Possession of an active Class C motor vehicle license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with chemical testing of boiler water.
