About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team at our Ocotillo Brine Reduction Facility (OBRF) as a Utility Plant Operator I or Utility Plant Operator II. This position involves working rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights. Shifts are 12 hours long, either from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The specific days of the week can vary.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED;
  • 1 year of experience in the operation or maintenance of a water or wastewater utility, or other related industrial experience, or completion of the City of Chandler's Temporary Utility Plant Operator Trainee Program;
  • A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record;
  • An ADEQ Grade 1 Wastewater Treatment Certification upon hire or promotion;
  • Ability to pass respirator fit testing within 6 months of hire promotion;
  • Obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification within 1 year of hire promotion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with High-Pressure Pumps, Reverse Osmosis Equipment, Chemistry, and laboratory analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the full range of semi-skilled and skilled operational work in a wastewater treatment facility.
  • Monitor, operate, and adjust equipment as necessary.
