About the position
The Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Supervisor oversees crews responsible for the repair and operation of utility systems and equipment within a correctional facility. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of the institution while ensuring the efficient operation of various utility systems, including high voltage electrical loads, steam boilers, and sewage systems. The supervisor is also responsible for the training and management of staff, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining the institution's security protocols.
Responsibilities
- Supervise inmate crews responsible for the repair and operation of utility systems and equipment.
- Manage the distribution of high voltage electrical loads, including switch gear, transformers, and metering devices.
- Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of institution boilers, air conditioning equipment, water, sewage, and electricity generation and distribution.
- Oversee the replacement and repair of steel piping, expansion joints, and hangers.
- Maintain security of the institution while performing supervisory duties.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must have sufficient training and experience to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to supervise and manage inmate crews effectively.
- Aptitude for working with prisoners and maintaining security protocols.
- Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, and technical practices.
