About the position

The UX Designer position at MathWorks is part of the Engineering Development Group (EDG), a leadership development program aimed at enhancing technical and leadership skills. The role involves leading design projects from initial concepts to final implementation, collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams to create user-centered designs for MathWorks' products. Responsibilities

• Lead projects through the full design process, from early ideas and sketches to wireframes and prototypes.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional development teams to enhance user experiences.
• Work with quality engineering, development, and marketing teams to align design solutions with product branding.
• Understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet user needs.
• Demonstrate technical and leadership skills in design projects.
• Research and showcase knowledge in industry trends and technologies across mobile, desktop, and web.
• Promote best practices in design, usability, and accessibility within the organization.
• Connect with customers on complex technical issues related to MathWorks products.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline with HCI, Design, or similar specialization.
• Portfolio available for viewing, highlighting multiple projects and direct contributions.
• Experience crafting user experiences in technical/engineering domains.
• Programming experience in any programming language (MATLAB, R, Python, C++, Java, JS, etc.).
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior UX Design experience is a plus.
