About the position

The UX Designer II at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is responsible for enhancing the user experience of web-based applications by collaborating with a team of designers, researchers, and engineers. This role focuses on producing user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and UI specifications while driving the development of design guidelines and patterns. The designer will engage in user research and testing to optimize the user experience across various products, ensuring that the solutions are elegant and user-centered.

Responsibilities

  • Produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes, user interface specifications, and final graphics.
  • Drive the development and communication of design guidelines, patterns, and libraries.
  • Collaborate with UX Researchers to initiate and navigate testing processes and perform metrics analysis to inform design/UX optimization efforts.
  • Help create the vision for developing, communicating, and implementing the user experience and associated UI framework and assets on a range of products.
  • Partner with the technology team to ensure we leverage the scale offered by our platform without compromising on core experiential principles.
  • Partner with others in the broader design community to develop and extend the experience across the array of offerings.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role.
  • 3+ years of experience designing for web-based, responsive, and accessible applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or 5+ years equivalent professional experience.
  • Must have an online portfolio that demonstrates UX and user-centered design expertise through mockups, style guides, prototypes, and other artifacts.
  • Experience working with design tools like Figma, Sketch, XD, or Illustrator.
  • Web-based application development experience, including the ability to deliver production-ready artifacts or prototypes in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills including presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • A master's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related UX degree.
  • React-based application experience ideal.
  • Experience working in a collaborative creative team.
  • Experience working directly with developers for implementation of designs.
  • Demonstrated history of making data-driven decisions.
