About the position

As a UX Designer on the Rapid Innovation team, you will be responsible for creating user-centric designs that push the boundaries of what's possible for customer missions. This role involves collaborating with industry experts, technical program managers, and architects to bring innovative solutions to life while partnering with Public Sector customers. You will deliver UX designs for systems by conducting design-thinking centered design workshops and writing production-quality code in support of front-end development. Your work will directly contribute to Google Public Sector's mission of enhancing government and education through technology, focusing on helping United States public sector institutions accelerate their digital transformations. The team is dedicated to making significant investments and growing to meet the complex needs of local, state, and federal government and educational institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with public sector customers and industry executives to gather requirements and understand customer mission use cases.
  • Conduct comprehensive user research to identify user needs, behaviors, and preferences.
  • Develop innovative and user-centric designs for prototypes that demonstrate customer missions.
  • Work with engineers and developers to translate designs into functional prototypes and ensure integration with existing systems and technologies.
  • Test and iterate on designs through user feedback and usability testing to ensure they meet user needs.
  • Present designs to customers, stakeholders, and executives in a clear, compelling, and engaging manner.
  • Contribute to the development of design standards, guidelines, and processes within the Rapid Innovation team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms and working with technical/design teams to create user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mockups and prototypes.
  • Experience working with Designers, Researchers, Engineers, Content Strategists, and Product Managers throughout the design process.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in designing for emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and augmented reality.
  • Knowledge of UX principles, best practices, and methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to deliver innovative and user-centric designs that meet business objectives and user needs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present and defend design concepts to diverse audiences.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
