About the position

Fidelity TalentSource is seeking a Senior User Experience Designer to join our team in Jersey City, NJ. This role is pivotal in redefining the financial services industry by making investing approachable for all audiences. As a Senior UX Designer, you will work in a fast-paced environment where decisions are driven by data, collaboration, and iterative processes. The organization places a high value on design, and you will be expected to contribute significantly to this culture. In this position, you will leverage your 7-10+ years of UX or related experience to lead the design efforts across multiple product teams. You will partner closely with product owners to inform product strategy and collaborate with developers to solve complex problems. Your role will also involve mentoring junior designers and providing thought leadership within the UXD group. You will be responsible for distilling qualitative and quantitative feedback to promote data-driven design decisions, ensuring that the user experience is consistent and effective across all digital channels. The UX Designer will support the Personal Investing group at Fidelity, which offers a range of services including wealth management, retirement planning, and financial engagement programs. You will be part of a team dedicated to delivering simple and accessible digital experiences to our customers. This role requires a strong foundation in design principles, an unwavering curiosity, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition of design work and deliver business outcomes across multiple product teams with minimal guidance.
  • Partner with product owners to inform product strategy and ensure alignment with user needs.
  • Collaborate with developers to solve design and technical challenges effectively.
  • Drive consistent customer experiences across the organization by working closely with various teams.
  • Coach and mentor junior designers, fostering their growth and development within the UXD group.
  • Provide design and product thought leadership to enhance the overall design culture.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of UX or related experience is preferred.
  • A degree in a related field such as interactive design, architecture, industrial design, graphic design, or human factors is preferred.
  • Experience working on agile teams delivering value in digital products is preferred.
  • Experience running and/or using research to support evidence-focused design decisions is preferred.
  • A digital portfolio that showcases your work is required.
  • An array of design skills, including visual, conversational, information architecture, prototyping, and strategic design methods such as design thinking.
  • Ability to design across all channels including web and native applications.
  • Effective communication skills as a writer, presenter, and facilitator, comfortable engaging with both developers and executives.
  • A foundation of development knowledge, both web and mobile, is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with design systems and understanding when to contribute to improve them.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial services or related industries is a plus.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in UX design.
  • Familiarity with user research methodologies and tools.
