About the position

As a UX Designer at our client, the world's leading search engine and technology company, you will play a pivotal role in shaping user experiences that align with the company's Corpus Growth initiatives. This position is a 12-month contract based in Boulder, CO, where you will work closely with product managers and engineers to execute on the roadmap for client corpus growth initiatives, which include improvements to both first-party (1P) and third-party (3P) file imports and scanner functionalities. Your work will involve proposing and responding to UX research and product analytics, ensuring that your design solutions are not only innovative but also feasible within engineering constraints. You will be responsible for advancing key performance metrics that guide the design process and ensure that the user experience is seamless across various platforms, including web and mobile, while integrating with other client Workspace products. In this role, you will execute tasks within the broader scope of projects under the guidance of your manager, team lead, or senior designers. You will develop user journeys, mockups, prototypes, and detailed specifications to effectively communicate your design ideas to cross-functional teams. Your ability to translate user needs, business goals, and technology constraints into actionable design decisions will be crucial. You will select appropriate design methods and tools, collaborating closely with UX researchers to establish user needs and mental models, test and validate design concepts, and distill insights that identify opportunities for enhancing the product experience. You will coordinate with product and engineering partners to define product requirements and set a vision that garners buy-in from stakeholders and leadership. Your partnership with engineering during the implementation phase will be vital, as you will hold bug bashes and ensure that the product meets high standards of excellence at each launch phase. As you begin to influence project decisions, you will support senior decision-makers by facilitating workshops and crafting presentations. You will also tackle low-complexity problems, applying established Google design principles and patterns, while knowing when to escalate more complex challenges to senior team members. Your role will involve developing working relationships within your team and participating in cross-team collaborations, sharing knowledge and conducting peer reviews with other UX designers. You will execute delegated tasks related to well-defined project timelines and objectives, clarifying assumptions with stakeholders before finalizing designs. Your foundational knowledge of UX design principles, user-centered product development, and user data analysis will be essential as you advocate for UX design and communicate your approach to other designers and partners. You will create design specifications for implementation, identify innovative design solutions, and respond to evolving design constraints. Additionally, you will contribute to a design system or design language for the product, ensuring that your designs are impactful and aligned with user insights, business needs, and industry trends. Iterative improvement of designs based on UX testing and stakeholder input will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will planning and prioritizing design work across projects and collaborating with partners to identify UX design opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Apply UX writing and content design frameworks for user experiences, including principles, patterns, and systems.
  • Leverage standard writing and design tools to help develop mock-ups or prototypes with guidance.
  • Identify product or platform requirements, and follow well-defined design templates, style guides, and accessibility guidelines.
  • Contribute to a design system, or design language for a product with some guidance.
  • Identify design solutions based on user insights, business needs, and industry trends that help achieve business objectives.
  • Create design concepts (e.g., mock-ups, prototypes, models) to express ideas for user research/testing in collaboration with UX researchers.
  • Iteratively improve design based on UX testing and partner/stakeholder input with some guidance.
  • Complete prioritized design work across projects and communicate priorities with team members.
  • Collaborate with partners to prioritize UX design opportunities.
  • Analyze user needs through collaboration with others, and help identify defined problems to defined solutions in strategy, product, or technology.

Requirements

  • Experience in UX design with a strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
  • Understanding of user research methodologies and ability to apply them in design processes.
  • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in UX design.
  • Familiarity with web and mobile design principles and responsive design.
