About the position

As a User Experience Designer at Marriott International, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experiences for one of the most recognized hospitality companies in the world. This position is designed for a proactive problem solver who is passionate about user experience and visual design. You will be part of a high-energy and talented User Experience & Design team, dedicated to creating best-in-class digital experiences that enhance the customer journey across Marriott.com. Your work will involve collaborating with digital product teams to produce creative and impactful solutions through ideation, regular feedback, and critique. In this role, you will be responsible for producing a variety of design deliverables, including sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, and Figma prototypes. You will also ensure that the designs are not only innovative but also development-ready, adhering to industry best practices and usability standards. Your ability to balance user, business, and technical needs will be crucial as you define product problem areas from the guest/user perspective. You will thrive in an environment that values deadlines and realistic expectations, ensuring that you meet project timelines while delivering high-quality work. Your portfolio will be a critical component of your application, showcasing your UX and visual design skills, particularly in areas where simplicity and ease-of-use were prioritized. Reporting to the Director of UX and Design, you will have the opportunity to lead with a user-centric mindset and create innovative solutions to challenging user and business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Produce sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, motion specs, Figma prototypes, and presentations as needed to communicate experience design.
  • Create both innovative high-level design concepts and development-ready designs with specifications.
  • Present work clearly, citing industry best practices and data to support design decisions.
  • Participate in the user acceptance testing process to ensure quality experiences on live digital products.
  • Collaborate with other sub-disciplines in User Experience and teammates across the organization.
  • Utilize software including Figma, AEM Storybook, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Reference Design System for appropriate patterns, components, and styles during design work.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and apply new knowledge to job responsibilities.
  • Understand web technologies and principles, including responsive design and front-end markup.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a UX designer or in a similar role.
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in design or technology discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in one or more user experience disciplines: interaction design, visual design, motion/animation, prototyping.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think logically and analyze complex use cases.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and support speed-to-market delivery.
  • Grounding in general usability and transactional design best practices.
  • Understanding of atomic design framework.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with large-scale global digital apps, websites, or other digital products within the commerce or travel space.
  • Experience working with multi-brand design systems and using variables/tokenization.
