As a User Experience Designer at Marriott International, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the digital experiences for one of the most recognized hospitality companies in the world. This position is designed for a proactive problem solver who is passionate about user experience and visual design. Your work will involve collaborating with digital product teams to produce creative and impactful solutions through ideation, regular feedback, and critique. A strong portfolio showcasing your UX and visual design skills is essential, particularly in areas where simplicity and ease-of-use are paramount. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting a vision for how experiences should be designed, ensuring that user-centric design principles are at the forefront of your work. You will produce sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, and prototypes using tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. Your ability to balance user, business, and technical needs will be crucial as you define product problem areas from the guest/user perspective and lead with a user-centric mindset. You will thrive on creating innovative solutions to challenging user and business problems while valuing deadlines and setting realistic expectations around them. Reporting to the Director of UX and Design, you will work both individually and collaboratively with other user experience designers to produce actionable deliverables. Your role will also involve participating in user acceptance testing to ensure a quality experience on live digital products. You will be expected to keep your skills up-to-date on industry trends and apply new knowledge to your work, ensuring that Marriott remains at the forefront of user experience design in the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

  • Produce sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, motion specs, Figma prototypes and/or presentations as needed to communicate experience design.
  • Produce both innovative high-level design concepts and development-ready designs with specifications.
  • Clearly present your work citing industry best practices, qualitative and quantitative data to support your decisions.
  • Ensure a quality experience on live digital products by participating in the user acceptance testing process.
  • Work collaboratively with other sub-disciplines in User Experience as well as other teammates across the organization.
  • Use software including Figma, AEM Storybook (or equivalent), Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Reference Design System for appropriate patterns, components, and styles in the course of user experience design work.
  • Provide accurate estimates as to needed time to complete work to feed project plans and personal deadlines.
  • Meet deadlines once agreed upon and report impediments to completing work and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide regular status updates to manager and successfully manage multiple assignments at once.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a UX designer or a similar role.
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in design or technology discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following user experience disciplines: interaction design, visual design, motion/animation, prototyping.
  • Experience in solving problems, thinking logically and analyzing complex use cases.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly, think creatively, and support speed-to-market delivery.
  • Grounding in general usability and transactional design best practices.
  • Understanding of atomic design framework.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with major, large-scale global digital apps, websites, or other digital products within the commerce or travel space preferred.
  • Experience working with a multi-brand design systems and using variables/tokenization.
