About the position

The UX Director for Ad Products & Creative Experience at Amazon will lead a high-performing team of UX professionals to drive end-to-end ad experiences across various platforms. This role involves collaborating with user research, engineering, and product management to enhance ad placements, brand shopping experiences, and creative tools within the Amazon ecosystem. The director will also influence long-term strategy and ensure that advertising is seamlessly integrated into customer experiences, fostering innovation and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for customers by providing strategic design leadership that aligns design, content, business, and technology needs.
  • Raise the bar on design quality and oversee the overarching portfolio strategy, negotiating priorities and driving solutions with cross-functional teams.
  • Drive mechanisms for the design team to align on customer problems and product vision, creating scalable systems for design work.
  • Navigate ambiguity in understanding customer needs and defining new products, ensuring experiences are simple and compelling.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and UX trends, leading the team to experiment with innovative tech and interaction patterns.
  • Maintain healthy relationships with global partners and stakeholders, prioritizing customer needs and resolving issues effectively.
  • Invest in the development and growth of a diverse team, fostering a culture of inclusion and creativity.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, product designer, or similar role.
  • An online portfolio demonstrating user-centered design solutions across desktop and mobile devices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven experience with rapid, iterative design and development processes.
  • Track record of presenting to and influencing various stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Experience leading projects in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Fluency in best practices for multimodal experiences and strong knowledge of usability principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of experience leading and managing design teams of 40 or more.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Design operations experience to drive organizational design and project planning.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
