About the position

We seek a UX professional with diverse experience to coordinate and drive a wide range of support operations on behalf of our federal client. You will support a team of human-centered designers, researchers, and content strategists collaborating across functions to create products that are useful, intuitive, satisfying, and in compliance with government standards for accessibility and plain language. The ideal candidate will use their broad knowledge in Human-Centered Design (HCD) and excellent project management skills to help UX professionals optimize the quality and efficiency of their work, and to facilitate communication and collaboration on UX tasks across a high-profile product within the General Services Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and execute DesignOps (UX Ops) tools, programs and strategies for a mid-size UX team.
  • Maintain and improve a UX research repository, including plans, findings, and research templates.
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for content strategy, UX research and UX design.
  • Maintain and improve the content style, voice and tone guidelines, and UX handbook.
  • Assist in governance and monitoring compliance.
  • Coordinate design-thinking workshops and host standing meetings as needed for driving UX improvements.
  • Field questions for scrum teams, engineers, leadership, and other team members about UX best practices, tools, systems, handing off to other UX team members as appropriate.
  • Coordinate foreign language translation and localization process between internal team and localization vendors.
  • Write, edit, and publish UX Ops communications, including bi-weekly updates, slack announcements, stakeholder emails, and other communications.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as needed on UX related topics, for key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a human-centered design field.
  • Able to present case studies or a portfolio demonstrating your approach and deliverables.
  • Candidate must reside in the US, be authorized to work in the US, and work must be performed in the US.
  • Candidate must have resided in the US 3 of the last 5 years.
  • Candidate must be eligible for public trust.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years total experience.
  • Project management certification.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA / Section 508 and Plain Language Act compliance preferred.
  • Experience in federal contracting or healthcare IT preferred.
  • Experience supporting localization and translation efforts.
