About the position

Roku is seeking a talented UX Product Designer to join our dynamic team in San Jose. As a leading TV streaming platform, Roku is committed to enhancing user experiences across our web properties. In this role, you will be instrumental in crafting innovative and intuitive solutions that cater to a variety of user and business needs. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and user researchers to ensure that our designs not only meet business goals but also provide exceptional user experiences. Your work will involve gathering requirements, creating user-centered experience flows, and utilizing user journeys to guide your design approaches. You will also be responsible for presenting your designs to UX management and stakeholders, ensuring that your design decisions are communicated effectively across diverse teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UX design, with at least 3 years of experience in the field. You should be comfortable working independently within a product team and have a proven track record of shipping multiple products or features. Your portfolio should showcase user-centered design solutions with measurable outcomes, demonstrating your ability to innovate and solve problems effectively. Additionally, you will have hands-on experience working with user researchers and utilizing research findings to inform your designs. Responsibilities

  • Design innovative, intuitive solutions for new features and enhancements across a variety of Roku websites
  • Gather requirements and create user-centered experience flows, including the cross-pollination of ideas with different teams within Roku
  • Work closely with product managers and business stakeholders to identify the problems, business goals, and user outcomes that your designs will address
  • Utilize user journeys to help guide and frame your design approaches
  • Collaborate closely with the development team throughout the lifecycle of the product/feature
  • Partner with user researchers to determine and execute the ideal research methodology to evaluate your designs
  • Plan and execute presentations to UX management, stakeholders & executive leadership
  • Own your designs and communicate effectively, articulating your design decisions to colleagues from diverse disciplines
  • Give and receive feedback in regular design critiques with your peers

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in UX and the ability to work independently with a product team
  • Experience designing for desktop & mobile web consumer experiences, preferably on customer support products/features
  • Knowledge & comfort in designing for/within the latest web standards
  • Proven track record of shipping multiple products/features, with the ability to discuss specific contributions
  • Portfolio highlighting projects demonstrating user-centered design solutions with measurable outcomes
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment and embrace opportunities to rapidly iterate on designs
  • A passion for innovation and problem solving
  • Hands-on experience working with User Researchers or conducting User Research yourself
  • Endless empathy for the user
  • Proficiency in UX Design tools such as Figma (or similar) to create user interfaces
  • Degree in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
