About the position

The UX Researcher position at MathWorks is part of the Engineering Development Group (EDG), a leadership development program aimed at enhancing technical and leadership skills. This role focuses on conducting user research to inform product development and improve user experience. The position involves collaboration with the UX Research team, engaging with customers, and contributing to high-impact projects that shape the direction of MathWorks products.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research to identify user pains and study user workflows.
  • Execute qualitative and quantitative research methods including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, and card sorting.
  • Provide technical support to MathWorks customers for complex technical issues in MATLAB, Simulink, and other products.
  • Develop and demonstrate leadership skills by coaching and mentoring others.
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline with HCI, Design, or similar specialization.
  • 3 years of professional work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with relevant research and collaboration tools (e.g., UserZoom, OptimalWorkshop, Morae, Miro).
  • Programming experience in any programming language (MATLAB, R, Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
