About the position

The UX Researcher will play a crucial role in the United UX design team, focusing on conducting design research to guide the design process from initial discovery through to wireframes and visual design. This position is responsible for developing and executing research plans, methodologies, and reporting findings to inform design development. The UX Researcher will transform unmet user needs and business opportunities into successful product launches through comprehensive user research across various design phases, ultimately aiming to create a best-in-class user experience for United's customers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of products and experiences.
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs, and online experiments (A/B testing).
  • Work with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other UX Researchers to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research.
  • Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations.
  • Gather and source targeted testing audience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of usability and user experience research tools and techniques (e.g. field research, heuristic reviews, benchmarking, card sorts, lo-fidelity prototyping methods, etc.).
  • 5+ years of usability research experience with multifaceted responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of user interface design practices and principles.
  • Strong moderation skills and methods for group facilitation and consensus building.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience with conducting remote usability testing and focus groups.
  • Preferably a mix of web and mobile experience.
  • Related experience in another field such as human factors, interactive design, information architecture, and/or market research is a plus.
