About the position

The UX Researcher position at INSPYR Solutions is a contract role focused on advancing research in virtual and augmented reality technologies. This role is part of a world-class research team dedicated to creating breakthrough AR glasses and VR headsets that will transform how we work, play, and connect. The team is engaged in developing essential technologies, including optics, displays, computer vision, audio, graphics, and haptic interaction, with a particular emphasis on creating virtual sounds that are indistinguishable from reality and redefining human hearing. The UX Researcher will play a crucial role in this ambitious project, which aims to augment human capabilities and facilitate effortless communication in acoustically challenging environments. As a senior-level UX Researcher, the individual will be responsible for conducting research studies with human subjects, which includes the setup, implementation, and data collection for both in-person and remote studies. This position requires a strong focus on experimental design, user studies, data analysis, and reporting findings and recommendations to the research and product teams. The UX Researcher will collaborate closely with developers and engineers to ensure that the research aligns with the overall goals of the project and contributes to the development of innovative AR and VR technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research studies with human subjects, both in-person and remotely.
  • Set up and implement research studies, ensuring proper data collection methods are followed.
  • Drive research studies by owning experimental design and conducting user studies.
  • Analyze collected data and create comprehensive reports with findings and recommendations for research and product teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of industry experience with qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or higher education preferred.
  • Coursework or lab experience in speech perception/production, psycholinguistics, hearing science, cognitive psychology, auditory neuroscience, or similar fields.
  • Experience with hardware products, preferably consumer electronics or wearable devices.
  • Human-subject research experience is essential.
  • Experience with data analysis and programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the field of auditory neuroscience or social science.
  • Familiarity with user experience design principles and methodologies.
