About the position

The UX/UI Accessibility Specialist at FedPoint is responsible for designing and maintaining user-centered, accessible, and Section 508-compliant digital content and features. This role focuses on enhancing digital offerings to ensure they are intuitive and navigable for all users, while balancing user needs, business objectives, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create visually appealing websites that incorporate effective interaction elements for ease of navigation.
  • Produce wireframes and prototypes, contributing to design sessions and maintaining a library of digital design artifacts such as user personas, journey maps, and site maps.
  • Present design solutions to team members and stakeholders, ensuring clarity and justification for design choices.
  • Apply principles of color theory, typography, and information architecture to design accessible interfaces across various form factors.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge with the team.
  • Lead our website content accessibility program, ensuring compliance with Section 508 and WCAG standards.
  • Perform ongoing accessibility testing on desktop and mobile web content, prioritizing and communicating solutions for identified issues.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to integrate accessible content design into the workflow.
  • Work with third-party vendors for audits and VPAT documentation, while maintaining accessibility guidelines and best practices.
  • Educate team members on accessibility compliance standards and trends.
  • Collaborate with researchers and analysts to leverage user feedback and analytics, identifying content opportunities and friction points.
  • Conduct usability testing and analysis to inform content improvements based on qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Develop processes to measure the effectiveness of website content following UX best practices.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in UX/UI design with a focus on accessibility standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG compliance requirements.
  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping tools.
  • Ability to create visually appealing and user-friendly designs.
  • Strong communication skills to present design solutions and collaborate with team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with user research methodologies and usability testing.
  • Experience working with third-party vendors for accessibility audits.
  • Knowledge of current trends in web design and accessibility.
