About the position

The UX/UI Design Lead at Capital One will play a pivotal role in enhancing the customer experience for the Velocity Black mobile application and internal software, Gravity. This managerial position requires a strong background in UX and UI design, focusing on creating engaging, intuitive design solutions that meet customer and business needs. The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive innovative design strategies and deliver exceptional end-to-end experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with technology, product, and business teams to uncover customer and business needs and translate them into engaging design solutions.
  • Engage in portfolio prioritization to help set the strategy and product roadmap for the team.
  • Manage shifting priorities to provide clear direction on product prioritization and support early product definition.
  • Advocate for the customer through human-centered design methods, including discovery, research, and user testing.
  • Champion design-centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis.
  • Work with partners across various geographies to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Support early product definition by facilitating discovery sessions to uncover customer pain points and opportunities.
  • Drive end-to-end product design by working with researchers to understand customer needs and define opportunities through usability studies.
  • Create process and user flows, wireframes, journey maps, and interaction models, resulting in prototypes.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops with stakeholders to align with business needs.
  • Design within existing and create new standards to enhance the design system.
  • Present visual concepts to stakeholders and create high-fidelity design assets for development.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience with UX/UI design.
  • At least 6 years of experience designing end-to-end native experiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8+ years of experience designing for cross-channel experiences, especially native applications (iOS and Android) and web.
  • Experience working with existing and building new design systems.
  • Familiarity with design and prototyping tools, such as Adobe Products, Sketch, and/or Figma.
  • Experience managing a cross-functional team.
