About the position

SkyePoint Decisions is seeking a skilled and experienced UX/UI Designer to support a web application modernization effort for the Department of State. This role is critical to the transition from an outdated technology stack to the latest Microsoft .NET platform with a modern UI look-and-feel. As a UX/UI Designer, you will be responsible for translating user insights, business needs, and emerging trends into tangible, compelling, intuitive, user-centered UX/UI concepts. You will champion human-centered design principles and create and present UX/UI concept and design artifacts to effectively communicate design decisions to stakeholders at all levels. In this position, you will develop and iterate on design concepts through wireframing, prototyping, and user testing. Staying up-to-date on the latest design trends and technologies is essential to ensure that your designs are innovative and feasible. Additionally, you will create a library of design documents and artifacts that will serve as a reference for future projects. This role requires collaboration with a team of like-minded professionals to share and improve the cybersecurity infrastructure, architecture, and configuration deployments. Your ideas and contributions will matter, and you will have the opportunity to support some of our nation's most critical information systems by utilizing your existing cybersecurity skills and talents, as well as those that you will learn in your new role.

Responsibilities

  • Translate user insights, business needs, and emerging trends into tangible, compelling, intuitive, user-centered UX/UI concepts.
  • Champion human-centered design principles.
  • Create and present UX/UI concept and design artifacts to effectively communicate design decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Develop and iterate on design concepts through wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest design trends and technologies, ensuring designs are innovative and feasible.
  • Create a library of design documents and artifacts.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to obtain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in UX development.
  • Strong expertise in UX design and analysis.
  • Experience developing and testing low-, medium-, and high-fidelity wireframes, mockups and prototypes with stakeholders.
  • Experience designing a user journey map and ability to identify touchpoints, channels, and pain points.
  • Experience mapping information architecture, creating style guides and other techniques to reduce design drift.
  • Experience working as part of a team on agile projects with experience of agile rituals and ways of working.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex requirements and provide innovative solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of web software-oriented User Experience certification or education course.
  • Familiarity with .NET UI libraries, HTML, Javascript.
  • Ability to communicate technical details to the development team.
