About the position

The UX/UI Designer at NATO Innovation Hub in Norfolk, Virginia, plays a crucial role in developing digital tools that enhance collaboration and operational efficiency for NATO. This position focuses on user-centered design, ensuring that interfaces are intuitive, secure, and tailored to the needs of defense and international users. The designer will be involved in the entire design process, from concept to execution, contributing to NATO's digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research to understand and translate NATO-specific needs into effective UX/UI solutions.
  • Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that align with NATO's design standards.
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to integrate user-centric designs into NATO's systems and applications.
  • Ensure all design elements are consistent with NATO branding guidelines and maintain usability across various devices.
  • Continuously refine and optimize UX/UI designs based on user feedback, testing results, and new technology trends.
  • Incorporate best practices for secure interface design, ensuring data privacy and protection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design and Development, Digital Media Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in UX/UI design, preferably within multinational organizations or secure environments.
  • Expertise in tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and usability testing platforms.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or specialized UX/UI certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience with defense or governmental applications is highly desirable.
