About the position

The position involves working as a User Experience Designer within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional Services FedCiv Team, focusing on helping U.S. Federal agencies implement innovative cloud computing solutions. The role emphasizes designing modern applications, enhancing user experience, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. The candidate will be responsible for leading workshops, presenting design work, and creating high-quality design specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Inception Workshop to complete digital product design, including product vision, user profiling, user journey analysis, and user research.
  • Present design work to customer executive leadership using visuals, writing, and verbal communications.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups, and visual design specifications for mobile-first web experiences.
  • Contribute to user experience design guidelines and documentation of best practices and standards.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a user experience designer, product designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role.
  • A track record of designing and delivering digital products that align customer needs and business goals, illustrated with a portfolio.
  • Experience with several design approaches, methods, and tools to plan and estimate project work.
  • Experience using a variety of design tools to craft effective approaches, estimates, and plans in response to design requests.
  • Current, Active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies.
  • Ability to solve multi-platform UX challenges and demonstrate scalable, user-friendly design solutions.
  • Experience planning and executing effective customer research, solo or in partnership with a UX Researcher.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and design instincts to translate user and business needs into design solutions.
  • Strong visual design skills to complement UX skills.
  • A strong track record of iterative design, working closely with product and tech partners from inception through implementation.
  • Ability to drive the design review cycle and close on design requirements independently.
  • Experience in business analysis and agile project management.
