About the position

The UX Web Designer & Developer at the University of Illinois Chicago will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing a comprehensive web communications strategy for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. This role involves overseeing web content quality, accessibility, and branding while collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the user experience across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee website management content and design guidelines for all websites across the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
  • Coordinate with external consulting firms and UIC web content management systems team to optimize web strategies.
  • Design and manage improvements to the web content management system to enhance user experience.
  • Oversee the work of content managers and web staff across all units within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
  • Provide technical support for web content management and website hosting as needed.
  • Collaborate with SaTech to align data and content sharing across the division.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, maintenance, and content development on the website.
  • Monitor and evaluate website effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Oversee governance structure and site access for content authors, ensuring quality control for site content.
  • Assist in the production of artwork for websites and marketing-related web communications initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional IT experience in IT Development, including experience in developing and/or modifying applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Full Stack Development including UX UI Design, front end and backend web development.
  • Prior experience using design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision.
  • Experience with UX design, including conducting user research and UX testing.
  • Experience developing wireframes and prototypes.
  • Experience with adaptive design for multiple devices (desktop, mobile, tablets).
