About the position

The VMware and AWS Automation Engineer will serve as the primary contact for resolving issues across diverse Integration and Test (I&T) environments. This role involves close collaboration with Software Engineers to document installation procedures and assist I&T personnel in adapting environments as necessary. The position requires proficiency in scripting languages to maintain system stability and monitor usability effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first line of defense in troubleshooting issues arising in multiple I&T environments.
  • Interface with Software Engineers to document installation instructions and support I&T staff by modifying the environments as required.
  • Develop scripts using Bash, Perl, Ruby, or Python to continuously update and monitor system stability and usability.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance is mandatory.
  • Typically requires a BS/BA Degree in STEM (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Physics) and 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (e.g., scrum, SAFe).
  • Administrative fluency with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and VMware solutions.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go).
  • Experience with troubleshooting applications & infrastructure on Linux-based Operating Systems.
  • Current CompTIA Security + or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with virtualization tools and cloud computing (VMware, OpenStack, AWS).
  • Experience integrating COTS/FOSS software into a system.
  • Solid environment and configuration management skills; ability to maintain multiple baselines (Dev, Test, Prod).
  • Development experience with at least one infrastructure automation tool (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot system integration issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the use of MS Office applications.
  • Prior experience as a system administrator (Linux or Windows).
  • Exposure to Information Assurance compliance to specified standards (e.g., ICD-503).
  • IT infrastructure architecture exposure.
  • Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Vagrant).
