About the position

The Financial Planning and Analysis Lead Analyst is a senior professional role at Citi, primarily responsible for providing management with comprehensive analysis and insights into the company's financial results. This position plays a crucial role in coordinating with the broader Finance team to contribute to the directional strategy of the organization. The Lead Analyst will utilize in-depth specialty knowledge to offer advice and counsel on the evaluation of financial reports, focusing on both current and projected performance metrics. In this role, the Lead Analyst will create detailed financial reports and engage with the finance team to summarize financial trends effectively, providing valuable insights to senior management. The analyst will also advise on directional strategy and guide significant business and product decisions. Key responsibilities include executing thorough analyses of annual three-year Strategic/Operating Plans, Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) Pre-Provision Net Revenue (PPNR) forecasts, mid-year reforecasts, and bi-monthly outlooks in collaboration with segment, business, and country FP&A teams. Additionally, the Lead Analyst will prepare analytics to support CEO Reviews, including assessments of business initiatives, and will conduct profitability analyses of products to inform major business decisions. Building and maintaining relationships with key partners and senior management is essential for influencing behavior and decision-making processes. The role requires the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision, exercising independence of judgment and autonomy. The Lead Analyst will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and other team members, ensuring that risk is appropriately assessed in business decisions, particularly concerning the firm's reputation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position also emphasizes the importance of ethical judgment in personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, with a focus on transparency in managing and reporting control issues.

Responsibilities

  • Create financial reports and meet with finance team to summarize financial trends and provide insight to senior management.
  • Advise on directional strategy and provide guidance on significant business/product decisions.
  • Execute analysis of annual 3-year Strategic/Operating Plans, CCAR PPNR forecasts, mid-year reforecasts, and bi-monthly outlooks in partnership with segment, business, and country FP&A teams.
  • Prepare analytics in support of CEO Reviews, including business initiatives.
  • Execute analysis of product profitability and provide guidance on significant business and product decisions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and senior management to influence behavior and decision making.
  • Prepare presentations and analysis for the team supporting the CFO.
  • Operate with a limited level of direct supervision and exercise independence of judgment and autonomy.
  • Act as SME to senior stakeholders and/or other team members.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, considering the firm's reputation and compliance with laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient computer skills with a focus on Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred
