About the position

As a Senior Construction Scheduler for Kiewit's Building Group, you will lead scheduling efforts on large-scale vertical projects, specifically focusing on a replacement hospital project in Omaha, NE. This role involves planning and scheduling activities across various construction projects, allowing you to directly influence scheduling outcomes from estimation to project completion. You will collaborate with project teams to integrate project controls functions, generate reports for executive management, and drive successful project completions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fully resource loaded schedules including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items, and other critical project deliverables.
  • Complete and provide oversight to scheduling methods such as Last Planner, Pull Planning, and TAKT Planning using vPlanner.
  • Develop and maintain schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations, available manpower, and resources based on industry and company standards.
  • Provide scheduling analysis for delays and impacts (Time Impact Analysis) to identify and mitigate project risks and assist with change management procedures.
  • Assist in managing internal controls including implementing new process controls, measuring project performance, and ensuring the integrity of disseminated information.
  • Gain and apply knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology to develop and maintain critical path logic networks.
  • Provide guidance and specialized assistance for resolving difficult project control problems.
  • Collaborate effectively with various project teams, field personnel, and clients to create accurate reports and achieve goals.
  • Attend regular in-person meetings and provide regular reporting.
  • Work in Big Rooms to create Pull Plans and activity tags for multiple subcontractors.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in engineering, construction management, data management, business, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in scheduling, project controls, office/field engineering, or related positions within the construction industry.
  • Professional certifications such as Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) are encouraged.
  • Expertise with Primavera (P6) scheduling is required.
  • Experience in developing detailed WBS with logic ties, cost loading activities, and resource loading activities is necessary.
  • Expertise with scheduling methods in Last Planner, Pull Planning, TAKT Planning, and vPlanner software is highly preferred.
  • Professional experience under the IPD/IFOA contract model is highly preferred.
  • Ability to proactively collaborate with different project teams and personnel to gather data and meet project goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing baseline narratives, monthly updates, and TIAs.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, effective time management, attention to detail, and good organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise with scheduling methods in Last Planner, Pull Planning, TAKT Planning, and vPlanner software is highly preferred but not required.
  • Professional experience working under the IPD/IFOA contract model is highly preferred but not required.
