About the position

SBG Technology Solutions, Inc. (SBG), a DSS, Inc. company, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support our Health Services Division, specifically focusing on business development and capture activities for our Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) clients and other Federal Health Customers. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new business opportunities within the VA and related markets. This position is based at our corporate office in Alexandria, VA, with some flexibility for hybrid or remote work options. The ideal candidate will have a robust network of relationships within the VA and a deep understanding of its organizational structure, mission priorities, and procurement approaches. Leveraging this knowledge, the Business Development Manager will develop customer and partner engagement plans and provide strategic recommendations to leadership, ultimately leading to the creation and execution of VA go-to-market account plans. The role offers the opportunity to engage with a diverse portfolio of business challenges and expand one's role as the business and mission impact grows. Key responsibilities include leading business development efforts across the entire capture lifecycle, from opportunity identification and qualification to proposal development and post-submission activities. The candidate will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to formulate and implement integrated business development strategies that clearly articulate the value of SBG's offerings to potential clients. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a current knowledge base of market opportunities, conducting networking and research activities, and developing marketing materials and proposals that align with client needs. The Business Development Manager will also assist in sector growth initiatives, collaborating with Capture Managers and Program Leads to pursue new opportunities, and will participate in various reviews to ensure the quality and competitiveness of proposals. This position requires strong communication and presentation skills, as well as the ability to translate the mission needs of VA and Federal agencies into actionable business opportunities. The candidate must be willing to travel as needed and possess or be able to obtain a Public Trust and/or active DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide business development support for the VA account across the new business and re-compete capture lifecycle.
  • Formulate, communicate, and implement integrated business development and capture strategies.
  • Develop and implement portfolio campaign plans and strategies, maintaining a firm comprehension of customer requirements.
  • Perform business development activities including networking and research to increase business opportunities.
  • Meet with current and potential clients to ascertain their requirements and inform them of company capabilities.
  • Support the development of white papers, proposals, solutions, and marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with Capture Managers and Program Leads to pursue opportunities.
  • Co-Lead proposal reviews with the Proposal Manager and provide recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business-related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience working with VA program managers and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Federal government healthcare industry initiatives and innovations.
  • Thorough familiarity with Shipley (or similar) business pursuit and capture methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the VA and other Federal Health agencies with direct client interface experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to translate mission needs into business opportunities.
  • Ability to build relationships within the VA and work as part of a dynamic team.
  • Must have the ability to travel as needed.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain Public Trust and/or active DoD security clearance.
