About the position

The LDL Technical Relationship & Project Manager at the British Library is responsible for translating technical requirements and managing projects across six UK Legal Deposit Libraries. This role focuses on building strong relationships between technical departments, leading specific legal deposit initiatives, managing project budgets, and coordinating research activities. The position also involves communication with government and publisher stakeholders regarding Legal Deposit matters.

Responsibilities

  • Translate technical requirements for legal deposit initiatives.
  • Lead or project-manage specific legal deposit initiatives for all six Legal Deposit Libraries.
  • Manage project budgets and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and undertake research related to Legal Deposit activities.
  • Provide relationship management and technical communications to government and publisher stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an academic or research library as a qualified librarian or in a project management role.
  • Understanding of electronic publishing.
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to various audiences, both in writing and verbally.
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with project structures.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Analytical skills for conducting research and analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing technical projects in a library setting.
  • Familiarity with legal deposit regulations and practices.
