About the position

The Vacuum System Process Engineer (VSPE) will play a crucial role in a tier 1 automotive/aerospace OEM, focusing on the development, design, and support of manufacturing processes and equipment. This position emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, with responsibilities that include optimizing production processes and influencing product development for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Optimize and monitor production processes to improve quality, reduce costs, and enhance process flow and capabilities.
• Collaborate in product and equipment launches by developing processes and designing/purchasing necessary equipment.
• Lead problem-solving initiatives to identify root causes and implement corrective actions, supporting safety and quality issue resolutions.
• Develop and maintain essential production documentation, including Control Plans, FMEA's, and Process Flow Charts, ensuring quality and customer requirements are met.
• Design ergonomic workstations and tools to establish best practices, enhancing efficiency and safety across operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or other related field.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment; research experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred experience in Lean/TPS manufacturing principles.
• Familiarity with Solid Works or other CAD/CAE systems.
• Knowledge of PLC Logic and other Process Control Systems.
• Experience with Statistical Analysis, SPC, and project management.
• Familiarity with Industrial Automation/Robotics, Vision/fluid/power systems (hydraulic/pneumatic), and Motion Control.
• Knowledge of physical vapor deposition (sputtering, evaporation, ion beam).
