About the position
The Validation Laboratory Technician Intern position at MAHLE offers an opportunity for students pursuing a degree in a mechanical discipline to gain hands-on experience in testing automotive HVAC systems and components. The intern will engage in performance measurements, durability testing, and learn about refrigeration cycles while working alongside experienced technicians in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up tests for Automotive HVAC systems, modules, heat exchangers, and sub-components.
- Learn the principles of refrigeration cycles and diagnose refrigerant system issues.
- Install instrumentation and equipment to monitor test parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow.
- Interface with computer-based electronic test systems.
- Execute tests efficiently and correctly, observing consistency in test data.
- Interpret results and report irregularities to the test engineer.
- Diagnose and resolve test component or bench issues, performing basic repairs and maintenance.
- Cross-train in various Test Laboratory positions and become proficient in multiple test bench operations.
- Take direction from the test area supervisor and senior test technicians for daily assignments.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Requirements
- Pursuing a college degree in a related mechanical discipline (AAS Automotive/Mechanical/Electrical Technology).
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate well with co-workers.
- Proficient with PC-based software such as MS Windows/Office.
- Ability to write routine reports, procedures, and correspondence.
- Effective communication skills with peers, managers, and directors, including presentation skills.
- Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in both verbal and written forms.
