About the position

The Senior Director of Operations will be responsible for translating business strategy into actionable goals across a region of manufacturing facilities. This role emphasizes cultivating a high-performance culture through talent development, employee engagement, and delivering on key operational metrics such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash. The position requires strong leadership and a deep understanding of lean manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team across a region of manufacturing facilities to exceed customer expectations.
  • Drive operational excellence methodologies to ensure increasing performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash.
  • Implement safety culture/programs aligned with the company's values and policies.
  • Implement processes that drive in-process quality aligned with the Quality Management System.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of products to meet customer expectations.
  • Utilize Lean systems to eliminate waste and deliver on productivity goals.
  • Implement processes to optimize inventory levels based on customer demand.
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop high-performing individuals and teams.
  • Develop and implement a three-year plan to promote revenue, profitability, and volume growth.
  • Work with Plant Managers to create Annual Operating Plans (AOP) and deliver on commitments.
  • Review performance and use problem-solving methodologies to improve results.
  • Establish a work environment aligned with Valmont's Core Values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in manufacturing and engineering environments.
  • MBA or MS Technical degree.
  • Solid understanding of Lean principles and methodology.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • A master's degree.
  • Professional experience in multiple manufacturing processes supporting different business models.
  • Previous multi-site work experience developing and growing a business.
