About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Underwriter in Home Lending to review, analyze, approve, and underwrite individual consumer requests and products. The role involves ensuring compliance with company and industry guidelines while providing excellent customer service and support.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, approve, and underwrite routine individual consumer requests and products.
• Review credit applications, credit bureau information, collateral valuation, tax returns, financial statements, or other supporting documentation.
• Assist with the calculations and preparation of reports for review.
• Respond to customer inquiries and credit decisions.
• Ensure credit files are current, complete, and compliant with company standards.
• Contact customers and partners to gather information for decision-making and explain rationale behind credit decisions.
• Present recommendations for resolving situations and exercise independent judgment while developing understanding of the Underwriting role.
• Provide information to team, managers, and customers related to inquiries.

Requirements

• 2+ years of Valuations, Lending, Underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of collateral underwriting experience
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• 2+ years in condo or co-op underwriting experience
• Knowledge of CORE
