The City of Clovis is seeking a Van Driver to operate a passenger car or van for the demand-response service under general supervision. This role involves providing safe and reliable transportation for elderly and disabled riders, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit. The Van Driver will be responsible for performing light vehicle maintenance as required and assisting passengers with boarding and alighting from the vehicle. The position requires a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals who may have oral and auditory disabilities. The Van Driver will also be expected to maintain effective relationships with passengers and other staff members while adhering to all safety regulations and protocols. In addition to driving duties, the Van Driver will be required to lift, carry, and push up to 75 pounds regularly, which may include assisting passengers with mobility devices and carrying groceries or other items. The role may also involve operating a mobile radio to receive and dispatch calls for service. The ideal candidate will possess a valid California Class C Driver's License, a good driving record, and certifications in First Aid and CPR within the first 30 days of hire. The position is physically demanding and requires the ability to perform various physical activities, including bending, stooping, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
