About the position
Universal Stainless is seeking a VAR Operator with prior mill or warehouse experience. This position works independently but also must work with other crew members from time to time. Must be a self-starter, have excellent attention to detail, reliable transportation, and willingness to learn. This position will work a 4 on 2 off schedule including weekends. The working hours are from 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am. The pay range is $21.25 to $21.75 per hour with a .50 cent shift differential for night shift.
Responsibilities
- Operates and monitors 4 VAR furnaces.
- Safely loads furnace using remote overhead crane, documenting bar identification and all required information.
- Maintains accurate record keeping of all furnace activity and communicates information to co-workers.
- Monitors chart recorders for cycle adherence to recipe and identifies anomalies in the furnace performance.
- Safely unloads bars from furnace at end of cycle and cools bars in manner directed by recipe using remote overhead crane.
- Documents and adheres to designated cycle times and processes material in accordance with recipe.
- Accurately records production data manually and in computerized production recording system.
Requirements
- Must have prior steel mill or industrial furnace experience.
- Welding experience a plus!
- Heavy Industrial: 1 year (Required)
- Overhead Crane: 1 year (Required)
- Forklift: 1 year (Required)
- Shift availability for both Day Shift and Night Shift (Required)
