The VDC Process Engineer will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) processes within our electrical contracting projects. This role involves close collaboration with the VDC Manager and Team to document, implement, and continuously improve VDC processes. The engineer will extensively use Revit and other Autodesk software to ensure high-quality design and construction documentation, develop and maintain standards, and provide training and support to the team. Additionally, the VDC Process Engineer will help drive continuous improvement initiatives and support the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and implements best practices to drive efficiency in VDC workflows.
  • Collaborates with the VDC Manager and other support teams to develop and refine VDC processes.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive VDC documentation, including standards, guidelines, and workflows, ensuring it is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Creates, modifies, and manages 3D models and construction documents using Revit and other Autodesk software.
  • Ensures accurate and efficient use of software tools to support project delivery.
  • Stays updated on the latest VDC technologies and trends.
  • Proposes and implements innovative solutions to enhance project delivery and efficiency, including creating and managing content like families, parametric data, and type catalogs.
  • Assists in the research and development, implementation, and training of company BIM Standards and programs, working closely with both users and consumers of various BIM software.
  • Trains and provides specialized support for various software tools/add-ins and in creating schedules and other data imported/exported in various BIM software.
  • Works with specialists in various software to ensure alignment across platforms and integrate Revit, ACC, Navisworks, and other Autodesk software with other applications.
  • Researches and develops tools, add-ins, scripts, automations, and workflows as needed.
  • Provides feedback on technology improvements, standards, and workflow enhancements.
  • Assists in modeling and detailing projects when required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technology field preferred.
  • 7+ years of Revit experience and multi-discipline coordination preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional Autodesk software beyond Revit.
  • Knowledge of BIM standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation processes.
