About the position

The VDC Project Manager at Turner Construction Company is responsible for leading and managing the BIM-based processes on construction projects. This role involves overseeing the digital construction efforts, ensuring effective coordination among various teams, and maintaining high performance standards. The VDC Project Manager will work closely with the VDC Manager and other project executives to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 2-3 VDC Engineers and oversee BIM field operation and engineering processes.
  • Ensure construction coordination, 4D laser scanning, and surveying are effectively managed.
  • Develop high-performance teams through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Share regular feedback with staff and complete employee performance appraisals in a timely manner.
  • Plan BIM tools and processes for each job based on constraints and challenges.
  • Participate in Operation Review meetings to inform management on BIM-based operations progress.
  • Collaborate with project managers for quality assurance and quality control using models.
  • Provide leadership in risk evaluation, contract negotiations, and pricing decisions for BIM projects.
  • Enforce safety protocols through BIM modeling for task preplanning.
  • Develop and improve client relationships, fostering a trusted advisor status.
  • Advise and enforce Turner's contract and subcontract agreements related to model use and data fidelity.
  • Enhance relations with architects, subcontractors, and vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction BIM tools and applications in cost, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and BIM-based applications such as Navisworks, Revit, and SketchUp.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Unreal Engine and Twinmotion.
  • Familiarity with Laser Scanning Workflows and Total Station Surveying Workflows.
