About the position

The VDI Engineer position at HX5 involves supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) by designing, deploying, and managing the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). This role requires a strong background in systems administration and engineering, particularly in enterprise environments, and focuses on ensuring the effective operation of VDI solutions for MDA's cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and support MDA's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) infrastructure.
  • Design and document installation and configuration solutions.
  • Manage the Citrix VDI, VMware VDI, and Cloud VDI environments.
  • Deploy multi-server solutions to MDA's Cloud environments.
  • View and respond to events reflected in the various administration and monitoring devices.
  • Attend various meetings (crew/team, staff, change, configuration, etc.).
  • Perform administration of VDI environments including troubleshooting, break/fix activities, patching, and remediation of servers.
  • Coordinate efforts with other work centers and personnel to resolve Remedy incidents related to systems/supporting infrastructure.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma (or GED) and 3 years of general experience; or Associate's degree and 1 year of general experience; or Bachelor's degree and 0 years of general experience.
  • 3 years of experience as a systems administrator/engineer in a medium to large Enterprise environment supporting a variety of operating systems.
  • Experience with Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) products.
  • Experience documenting designs and performing installations of enterprise level infrastructure.
  • Experience with implementing Cyber-Security best practices.
  • Current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current Citrix, VMware, or Azure certifications.
  • Experience with VMware or RHEL virtualization products.
  • Experience with Cloud Environments (Azure and/or AWS).
  • Experience using Remedy software.
  • Experience supporting a DoD customer.
