The VDI Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for architecting, designing, configuring, installing, and maintaining the organization's Horizon VMware VDI IT infrastructure. This role involves handling complex issues, providing leadership to other engineers, and ensuring high availability and performance of the VDI environment.

  • Architect and design Horizon VMware VDI infrastructure to support new initiatives.
  • Configure and install Horizon VMware VDI infrastructure to support current and new initiatives.
  • Implement application virtualization and coordinate testing with application owner teams.
  • Create, manage, and implement gold images/build packages and application packages for VMware environment.
  • Plan and maintain the VDI environment utilizing industry standard best practices.
  • Provide VDI architectural planning and direction.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and maintain infrastructure and documentation of VDI.
  • Ensure high availability of the operation state of the VDI.
  • Engage in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources.
  • Maintain the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Configure, install, maintain, and provide support for critical software and hardware components.
  • Monitor system availability and troubleshoot and resolve connectivity interruptions.
  • Measure and improve performance and scalability.
  • Help develop disaster recovery or business continuity plans.
  • Responsible for basic management of storage solutions.
  • Produce documentation for systems and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new trends.
  • Assist in day-to-day tasks including critical patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Horizon VMware VDI subject matter.
  • Experience in architecting and designing VDI infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in configuring and installing VDI infrastructure.
  • Ability to implement application virtualization and coordinate testing.
  • Experience in creating and managing gold images/build packages.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for VDI environments.
  • Ability to monitor system availability and troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience in disaster recovery or business continuity planning.
  • Experience with virus management and vulnerability remediation.
  • Familiarity with storage solutions management.
  • Ability to work on weekend, shift, or on-call schedules.
