The Vehicle Fleet Specialist position at the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Investigations in Buffalo, NY, involves managing the vehicle fleet, which includes budgeting, purchasing, leasing, and disposing of vehicles. Responsibilities

  • Analyze utilization, efficiency, and economy of vehicles; make recommendations and resolve customer vehicle needs and transportation problems.
  • Evaluate problems or issues associated with vehicle use and arrange for changes in vehicle types based on assessments and customer needs.
  • Make recommendations for budget projections and revise/update standards and policies for the vehicle fleet.
  • Prepare procurement requests and track the delivery of all new vehicles while managing vehicle disposal.
  • Perform projects related to Vehicle Fleet Program movements and operations, including data assembly and analysis to determine transportation efficiency and expenditures.
  • Provide advice and guidance for improvements to program procedures and operations; develop action plans to correct or improve the Vehicle Fleet program implementation.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret Tier 5 clearance.
  • Submit to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing while in the position.
  • Must have a current, active, full, and valid Driver's license.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, including performing routine maintenance on vehicles, applying regulations to fleet oversight, coordinating vehicle procurement, and analyzing data for fleet efficiency.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in federal, state, or municipal regulations related to fleet management.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and procurement processes.
