About the position

The Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer - Vehicle Subsystems & Integration at Northrop Grumman is responsible for the development and integration of aircraft subsystems, focusing on electrical design, analysis, and testing. This role involves working on various aspects of aircraft subsystem development, including electrical wiring designs, power generation, and distribution systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and airworthiness criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical wiring designs of functional systems, selecting appropriate aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components in accordance with SAE AS 50881.
  • Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion, and distribution systems, including Electrical Loads Analysis and test procedures.
  • Responsible for all aspects of system component design and development, including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate on a subcontractor management team and act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development and procurement.
  • Plan and execute system level tests, support verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct system level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 0 years of experience for Electrical Engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of related engineering experience OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related engineering experience for Principal Electrical Engineer.
  • Experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation.
  • Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition and specification development.
  • Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
