About the position

As a Vendor Risk Associate at Western Alliance Bank, you will be responsible for managing the full life cycle of vendor management processes, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and federal regulations. This role involves evaluating vendors, preparing audit documentation, and facilitating due diligence processes to maintain strong vendor relationships and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the review and approval process for new vendors initiated by the line of business (LOB).
  • Perform due diligence for all new vendors, including obtaining and reviewing references, background checks, and financial statements.
  • Facilitate Due Diligence questionnaires (DDQ) and supplier checks (OFAC, D&B, etc.).
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams monitoring vendor performance, contracts, or risks.
  • Assist with vendor risk reviews and maintain current contracts and artifacts.
  • Facilitate contract review between business partners, vendors, and legal.
  • Prepare documents and support internal/external discussions regarding vendor management issues.
  • Assess vendor compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure proper controls are in place.
  • Serve as a single point of contact for Vendor Management related questions and issues.
  • Build close relationships with business owners to understand their strategy and collect due diligence review results.
  • Act as a change-agent to influence decisions within and outside the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Statistics and 1+ years direct experience in Vendor Management; or High school diploma and 5+ years direct related experience in Vendor Management.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with internal staff and external customers.
  • Experience with compliance and related mortgage lending controls is recommended.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and technical report writing skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects independently and carry out assignments to completion.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer productivity suites including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Comfortable using financial/quantitative data.
  • Strong attention to detail, adaptable, flexible, and fosters teamwork.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of vendor management software or tools.
