About the position

The Vendor & Subcontractor Management Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the project execution team throughout the preconstruction and postconstruction phases. This position involves interfacing with clients, engineering and architectural leads, project management, and legal teams to ensure effective vendor and subcontractor management. The specialist will lead the prequalification process, facilitate contract negotiations, and manage relationships with preferred subcontractors and vendors, all while driving improvements in procurement processes and ensuring project deliverables are met.

Responsibilities

  • Identify subcontractors/vendors for key project bid packages.
  • Provide direction to design teams in determining package scope breakdown that best fits labor capabilities in a project location.
  • Lead subcontractor/vendor prequalification process.
  • Drive improvements to the current prequalification process.
  • Facilitate contract negotiations with subcontractors/vendors with our project management and legal team.
  • Manage our preferred subcontractor/vendor relationships.
  • Work with our estimating teams to keep unit costs up to date with changes in the marketplace.
  • Track, manage, and negotiate volume discounts/integrator-OEM pricing.
  • Work with project management resources to establish and drive procurement schedules in line with project deliverables.
  • Provide support to our project and construction management resources in managing underperforming subcontractors/vendors.
  • Identify options for engaging additional subcontractors to support work that is behind schedule and/or replace underperforming subcontractors.
  • Host Lessons Learned meetings with clients and key project subcontractors to maintain and develop relationships and improve DG work processes.
  • Work with project and construction management resources to improve our subcontractor work completion tracking processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years experience
  • Procurement experience with capital projects preferred
  • Ability to analyze purchase orders and contracts
  • Familiarity with engineering/architectural drawings and technical specifications preferred
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
